Photographer Goes Crazy How Wang Jin kai Started Making YouTube Videos and His YouTube Channel Story! Run 11 YouTube Channels Simultaneously!!
Anyone can create a YouTube channel, but only a few can persist in producing video content. Currently, I'm running 11 channels, all supported by viewers from around the world. Their support and discussions allow me to continue creating content that helps solve people's problems, while also doing what I love—photography and filmmaking—to reach a broader audience. Why Start YouTube?
On June 17, 2014, I, Wang Jingkai, uploaded my first YouTube video. It was a stop-motion animation I made for a middle school project with my classmates. Our teacher loved it and uploaded it to YouTube. This school project is what got me into making YouTube videos.
My initial motivation was my love for photography. Thanks to the support from viewers worldwide and living in an era with YouTube as a platform, I could happily share my passion.
Happy Filming Photos and Videos
When I started YouTube, I was just in middle school, mainly focusing on photography. I insisted on uploading a photo to Facebook every day, which made many people recognize me as a photography enthusiast. Inspired by YouTubers like Devin Super Tramp, I saved up to buy a mechanical stabilizer and made many videos using it. Before the high school entrance exam, I shot for 120 days and created a video titled "U 'Taipei' Today." Looking back, it's quite rough, but I only had a Canon 600D and three lenses, no slow-motion, precise editing, or color grading, and I used PowerDirector. Despite the limitations, I was happy. I remember one time after school, my parents promised to bring my camera, but they forgot, and I was in a bad mood all day.
After middle school, I bought a DJI Ronin M and a Canon 7D Mark II. My parents supported me due to my good exam scores, and I used my savings. Spending 100,000 TWD on photography gear as a middle schooler isn't something everyone can do.
Starting to Take on Projects
Due to my field of study and school clubs, I made many videos in high school and had good relationships with teachers, leading to many project opportunities. I also met Young Park from the neighboring class, and we shot several music videos together, like "Young Park - Not Recognizing" and "ASIA Boy - Double Hands." In college, I met Zhong Mingxuan’s manager and made many videos together, meeting many people and earning money to invest in more film equipment. Although client projects rarely made it to my channel, I kept producing content I liked on YouTube, such as photography, technology, e-sports, drawing, and music. Sometimes, business collaborations also came through YouTube, giving me more exposure.
Channel Content Gets a Bit Messy
As my channel's content grew, various topics appeared on my main channel. Some people called me a YouTuber, others a tech reviewer or a Vlogger. To simplify things, I categorized my videos, creating separate channels for niche or experimental content. This allowed viewers to subscribe to the content they wanted. Although this scattered my YouTube revenue, it was more important to enjoy making videos and help those in need.要
Current Channel Introductions
As of January 2024, I have 11 actively updated channels. Let's share the goals and future directions of these channels:
Main Channel: 王靖凱 Caillou Wang Taiwan - Focused on creating content related to technology and filmmaking, encouraging photographers to grow and exchange ideas.
Studio Channel: Cai Image Studio - Aims to build an English-language film exchange environment to interact with global audiences. Started uploading a lot of technical information after attending the NAB Show in the US in 2023.
Keyboard Channel: In Front PC - After a few viral keyboard videos on the gaming channel, I separated this content. The goal is to use creative camera angles and movements to shoot keyboards and related items on my desk, with hopes of featuring more keyboard types in the future.
Mobile Video Channel: Asian Phone Undisclosed - Contains various daily life videos shot on a phone. It showcases the most spontaneous and joyful content.
Montage Channel: Asian Montage - Uses my regular footage combined with voiceovers to create different meanings. Due to the effort required, it's challenging to keep this channel regularly updated.
FPV Channel: Naked FPV Cinematic - Dedicated entirely to FPV drones, including flight records, DVR footage, and maintenance logs. It's more of a growth record channel for FPV enthusiasts.
Sleep Channel: Night Vision Sleep Log - A channel where I record myself sleeping, initially to see if I snore or to monitor my sleeping habits. The night vision camera malfunctioned, resulting in silent videos with quirky titles based on my dreams.
Gaming Channel: Naked Master Gameplay - A channel documenting my computer gaming. There are no dramatic effects, just recordings of the games I play, reflecting my preferences.
Unedited Channel: None Edit by Caillou Wang 王靖凱 - Contains unedited footage from various cameras (except phone videos, which go to the mobile channel). It includes behind-the-scenes moments, like numerous takes or street fights—similar to a meme channel.
Drumming Channel: Naked DRUM Freestyle Flow - A channel for my drumming practice. Sometimes I accidentally play cool rhythms and record them to replicate the moment, focusing more on creative exploration than complete performances.
Photography Uncut | by Caillou Wang 王靖凱 - A one-take photography channel directly addressing viewer questions and sharing insights. It also documents my process of solving issues.
